Where We’re Finding Inspiration

Dr. Holly Taylor Coolman's book Parenting: The Complex and Beautiful Vocation of Raising Children, offers wisdom and insight regarding our vocation as parents. We love that Dr. Coolman speaks to the rewards and difficulties of parenthood and emphasizes the importance and role of community in this God-given task. More than just another parenting book, "Parenting" touches on each stage of parenthood and the “blessing of responsibility” that we are given in each of our children.

The Dominus Project hopes to encourage and equip parents, in their role, as primary teachers of the Faith for their children. Dr. DeLorenzo's book, Fed by the Lord, is a fantastic resource for parents and caregivers, who are walking their children through First Eucharist preparation. Fed by the Lord focuses on "scriptural immersion" helping parents to journey, with their children through God's words, on a path that illustrates God’s personal attention, purpose, and love for each one of us. The Fed by the Lord resource will foster a connection between parent and child, while also encouraging parents to grow in their own faith.

Kendra Tierney wrote, "The Catholic All Year Compendium Liturgical Living for Real Life" for those seeking to honor the Church's rich traditions in the home. She gives practical advice on how to make faith come alive in a tangible way!

"Building Blocks of Faith Series" by Kevin and Mary O'Neill uniquely captures the child's imagination through Lego scenes of Bible stories, celebrating the Sacraments, and more! Fun for all ages, check out this engaging book that will teach the building blocks of our Catholic faith, and beyond.

The Dominus Project recommends the Hallow App as it is a large library of audio-guided prayers and reflections. These recordings make a daily rosary, Bible in a Year, and living liturgically come easy! The Hallow App’s diverse content collection will provide inspiration and encouragement on your journey of faith.

The Walking with Purpose Program, created by Lisa Brenninkmeyer, is a wonderful option for women of all ages who are searching for a Catholic Women's Bible Study. The WWP studies are rooted in scripture and enable the women involved to grow in their relationship with the Lord through an encounter with Jesus in His word. These studies, all varying lengths, are created to be in-person group studies, but can be just as fruitful when done alone. Each Walking with Purpose study encourages growth in a particular area of our faith. Groups grow together in community while reading scripture, the catechism and also other writings and insights from our many Saints. The Dominus Project recommends any of the Walking with Purpose studies to the women of our Diocese.

On January 31, The Dominus Project hosted The Not so Late Show featuring Dr. Mario Sacasa. The evening began with an interactive comedic monologue by Father Mathew Dunn that was not only hilarious, but quite informative! Dr. Brian Pedraza and Dr. Mario then had a lively and informative discussion surrounding dating habits for our children. The evening was fun, festive and engaging for everyone that attended. We are so thankful to those who joined us, the night was indeed blessed!

On April 2, 2025, Jason Craig, founder of Fraternus and author of Leaving Boyhood Behind, visited The Dominus Project at FranU to talk about the recent advent of "youth culture" and the need to reclaim traditional rites of passage to help boys become men--those who are welcomed into and affirmed by a community of fathers and mentors.

Red Bird Ministries is an organization that guides couples and individuals through the complex trauma of child loss, infant to adult. Founded in love by Kelly Breaux, this Louisiana based apostolate is a witness to the beauty and healing that God can bring, when we invite Him into our suffering, when we ask Him to help us carry our cross. The Breaux's personal experience of child loss inspired the creation of Red Bird, a ministry that now offers comfort and accompaniment to people from across the world.
